Directorates-General
A large authority such as the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees can only run efficiently if it has a multi-layered organisational structure. The Federal Office is subdivided into directorates-general, directorates and divisions.
The divisions form the basic organisational units of the Federal Office and are grouped together according to subject areas. The Federal Office currently has five directorates-general. The main areas of work of migration, integration and asylum are each dealt with in one directorate-general.
