Liaison personnel
Exchanges of staff take place between the Federal Office and various partner authorities within the European Union to encourage mutual support.
The responsibilities of these liaison personnel are:
- advisory and intermediary work in the Dublin Procedure
- to provide reciprocal information about major developments in legislature and administrative practice, particularly on issues of asylum, migration and integration
- to support an exchange of information about the situation in asylum applicants' countries of origin and about legal practice arising from this.
Liaison officials from the Federal Office are currently deployed in the following partner countries:
- the Netherlands – Immigration and Naturalisation Service (Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst)
- France – Ministry of the Interior (Ministère de l'intérieur)
- Greece – Ministry for Civilian Protection
- United Kingdom - UK Border Agency
- Italy – Ministry of the Interior (Ministero dell'Interno)
- Poland – Office for Foreign Nationals (Urząd do Spraw Cudzoziemców)
- Hungary – Ministry of the Interior
Liaison staff are employed at the Federal Office from the following partner countries:

- Belgium – Office of Foreign Nationals (Office des Étrangers)
- United Kingdom - UK Border Agency
