Baden-Württemberg Competence Centre

Competence Centre to Coordinate the Prevention Network against (Islamist) Extremism in Baden-Württemberg (KPEBW)

In the context of the package of activities entitled "Special Programme of the Land Government against Islamist Terrorism", the Land Government of Baden-Württemberg decided in February 2015 to establish a "Competence Centre to Coordinate the Prevention Network against (Islamist) Extremism in Baden-Württemberg" (KPEBW), which was launched in December 2015.

The task of the Competence Centre is to

  • centrally manage and coordinate prevention and intervention activities against anti-constitutional movements connected to (Islamist) extremism,
  • secure the flow of information between governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, including the security authorities,
  • ensure that strategic concept and project development is nurtured to handle this group of topics, as well as advising the Land Government at interdepartmental level.

The goals, orientation and priority tasks of the KPEBW are agreed in a specialist advisory council and a steering committee. Senior members of all the departments concerned, of the local regional associations and of civil society are represented on the steering committee. The specialist advisory council is made up of more than 30 representatives of non-governmental organisations, research institutions and Ministries as well as subordinate authorities operating all over the Land.

Violence Prevention Network e.V. (VPN) acts as an external partner of the KPEBW. VPN operates the advice centre, headquartered in Stuttgart, which was established under the umbrella of the KPEBW. You can follow the link in the right-hand column for more information.
