Work experience

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees offers the opportunity to undertake work experience at its headquarters in Nuremberg or branch offices throughout the Federal Republic to school children, trainees, students and people undergoing retraining.

  • the preferred organisational unit in the Federal Office in which you would like to do your work experience.

The organisational plan may help you make this decision. Your application should be submitted at least 3-4 months before you plan to begin your work experience.

General information:

  • You should have German-language skills comparable with levels B2-C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. You can obtain information about language skill levels from the Self Assessment Grid.
  • It must be mandatory work experience in accordance with examination or training regulations (please attach) or work experience prescribed by a school or the training provider.
  • A wage will not be paid for the work experience. No expenses can be paid for accommodation, board, insurance, travel or similar.
