The Federal Office has set up a Qualification Centre to enhance the skills of its staff in the asylum area, who are prepared here for their work in the branch offices.

The main contents of the courses include the legal basis for asylum and interview techniques. Experienced colleagues from the Federal Office gradually introduce the new staff to their tasks. The soon-to-be decision-makers are trained on real cases, which is an important element of their training.

As well as fully-fledged decision-makers, specialised decision-makers for the Federal Office’s decision-making centres and staff of the asylum procedure secretariats are also trained at the Qualification Centre in Nuremberg.

A total of 32 classrooms with 675 desks are available for the courses at headquarters in Nuremberg and at the locations in Berlin, Chemnitz, Darmstadt, Düsseldorf, Halle/Saale, Mannheim, Munich, Cologne and Solingen.
