Traineeship

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees offers the opportunity to complete a traineeship in the area of "administration" at its headquarters in Nuremberg or branch offices throughout the Federal Republic to people training in law.

The training takes place in a previously agreed organisational unit. It will be agreed taking your interests into account.

Your application should include:

  • general documents (photograph, CV, copy of your certificate of the First State Law Examination and proof of acceptance to preliminary professional legal training)
  • the period you wish to spend at the Federal Office and your preferred organisational unit
  • a telephone number and/or an e-mail address

There are no deadline dates for your application. You should submit your application three months before you plan to start your elective.

The regulation of the Federal Länder on training and examinations for lawyers (JAPO) specify whether elective, compulsory or administration placements can be completed in branch offices or at headquarters. In case of doubt, please contact the training offices (OLG) responsible for your legal training in your respective Federal Land directly. You are responsible for ensuring your traineeship is recognised and you will not receive any additional payment for accommodation etc. during your traineeship at the Federal Office.
