The work of the Federal Office
As the responsible administrative authority, the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees awards grants from the funds provided by the European Refugee Fund.
This involves the following diverse tasks which include
- developing proposals for the multi-year and annual programmes,
- announcing the tender to bid for funds,
- selecting projects to be co-financed by the fund,
- awarding financial assistance,
- monitoring proof of use,
- financial control,
- documentation,
- drafting progress and final reports for the European Commission,
- working with the European Commission and the EU Member States,
- providing information and advice,
- networking with national stakeholders,
- doing public relations work.
Administratively, responsibility for these EU funds is allocated to Directorate-General 5 of the Federal Office (Implementation of the Asylum Process, Regional Co-ordinators of Integration, Implementation of Integration Tasks).
The staff responsible for the ERF are employed in the Zirndorf regional office.
