A change of government, political disputes, social conflicts or the upholding of human rights in a country of origin - these and many other factors play a key role in asylum procedures. The Federal Office library is one of the most comprehensive specialised libraries in the field of asylum and law concerning aliens. Its extraordinarily high standard has even been formally recognized by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Since 2000, the library has been continuously increasing its stock of literature on migration and integration issues.
Here you can find current information from the fields of asylum, migration, integration, repatriation support and court decisions – specifically on the topics of asylum, residence and migration – concerning various countries of refugee origin.
The Central Reference Desk can provide documents on the situation in foreign countries and also carries out research on different countries and the relevant issues affecting them.
The Service Centre handles many interconnected issues. It is responsible for the placing of asylum seekers in the Federal States and works together with the local foreign affairs offices and the Hardship Commissions in the individual states. Specializing in aliens law, it is also working towards the further development of customized IT systems.
