Target groups and goals
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees has the task of supporting integration projects for the following target groups in addition to the statutory integration programmes:
- Immigrants (ethnic German repatriates, foreign immigrants with the right to remain in Germany, Jewish immigrants)
- Adult immigrants (parents, families, women, men) and young people (aged from 12 to 27)
- Newly-arrived immigrants and immigrants who have already been living in Germany for some time (catch-up integration)
In order to improve mutual acceptance and overall social cohesion, the host society is also one of the target groups of the projects.
The following goals are pursued:
- enhancing immigrants' skills
- equal rights of participation by immigrants in society and political life, and
- improving the mutual acceptance (intercultural openness) of immigrants and locals.
