To ensure that the high quality of the integration courses is maintained, the curriculum and the final test are constantly assessed and developed. This also applies to teaching and learning materials. In accordance with sec. 21 of the Ordinance on Integration Courses (IntV), the Evaluation Commission is responsible for carrying out this task. It is also responsible for developing the quality control process and improving the nationwide integration course programme. In addition, the Evaluation Commission is responsible for designing the special courses (for example, the courses for young people and literacy courses).

The Commission is made up of:

  • academics
  • representatives from Federal Government
  • representatives from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees
  • representatives from the German Federal Länder
  • representatives from community umbrella organisations
  • integration officers appointed by the Federal Government.

Members are appointed for a term of three years by the Federal Ministry of the Interior. A plenary meeting is held two or three times a year.
