Ethnic German resettlers, their spouses and children are entitled to attend an integration course once free of charge if they arrived in Germany after 1 January 2005.
Citizens of the European Union do not have a legal entitlement to attend an integration course. They may be permitted to do so, however, if there are sufficient places available on the course.
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees may permit German nationals who lack adequate German-language skills and have special integration needs to attend an integration course.
