Putting people first: providing security, creating opportunities, embracing change

The RSS feed available from the website of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees provides you quickly and conveniently with information regarding newly-posted documents on the website. This means that you will not miss any new postings, even if you do not look on the website.

What is an RSS newsfeed?

The abbreviation "RSS" stands for Really Simple Syndication and describes XML- and Internet-based technology. The purpose of this technology is to transmit website contents quickly and uncomplicatedly. An RSS newsfeed enables you to check websites for any new content without visiting them yourself.
In order to read a newsfeed you need an "RSS reader". The RSS reader reads the newsfeeds to which you have subscribed and reports new entries to you automatically. This means that you can always keep an eye on new postings in the areas which you have selected. If you are interested in a new document, just click on it and it will be opened in the browser.

How do I subscribe to the newsfeed?

First of all, you need to install an RSS reader on your computer. You will find a large number of free newsfeed readers on the Internet. As soon as you have installed such a reader, you can subscribe to the newsfeed for new documents on the website. Each newsfeed has its own address, similar to the address (URL) of a website shown in the header. Copy this address into your RSS reader by right-clicking on the RSS symbol of the feed you want. In the following selection, go to Copy link. Alternatively, you can simply mark the path given under the newsfeed in question and copy it.

Then add this address at the appropriate place in your RSS reader (type CTRL+V or use the Edit and Insert menu tabs). The newsfeed will then appear in the reader overview. You have set up your subscription.

You can also receive RSS feeds via MS Outlook or Lotus Notes. Your operator will inform you about the RSS functionality offered by your e-Mail client.
