The use of the web service of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees is in principle possible without providing personal information. If you send us an e-mail, this and your e-mail address are used exclusively for correspondence with you. If you place any orders, the personal data provided are used only for forwarding the publications you have requested. Once your order has been carried out, your information is deleted. Your personal data are not passed on to third parties. Retention of citizens’ enquiries in paper and in electronic form takes place in accordance with the deadlines of the registration guideline for the retention of written material, which supplement the Joint Rules of Procedure of the Federal Ministries.

Data are stored for statistical and security purposes whenever our servers are accessed. We only record the IP address of your Internet service-provider, date and time, as well as the website of ours that you visit for a limited period. These data are exclusively used to improve our Internet service and are not evaluated in a manner that can be traced to you. We reserve the right to have personal data traced using individual datasets in the event of serious violations of our conditions of use and in case of unauthorised access and attempted access to our servers.

The Federal Office has been informed that individuals are once more being threatened by anonymous callers. The callers claim to be employees of the Federal Office and threaten deportation unless a specific sum of money is paid. Please be aware that such calls are not made by the federal office. For your safety: Please try not to give or confirm any personal details when you receive such a call. Never pay money to blackmailers.
