Professional continuing and further education
The German labour market requires adaptability and a willingness on the part of workers to continue their education and training. Professional continuing and further education are therefore very important in Germany to remain qualified to do your job. In many professions, after the initial training it is necessary to take further courses and to acquire new qualifications.
There are many qualification and further education programmes available.

The Federal Employment Agency is an important contact for issues concerning your professional further education. Employers also often offer further training. If you would like to attend further training courses, you should speak to your employer.
Further training courses for academics
Immigrant academics have the opportunity to attend special further training courses through the programme for academics run by the Otto Benecke Stiftung. You can apply for a grant to attend these courses. The “Integration durch Qualifizierung” network also offers a lot of information and advice about professional integration and further training.
German for professional purposes
If you would like to improve your German language skills for work, then the German courses for professional purposes will be of interest to you. These are funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. These courses are aimed at people with an immigrant background who are looking for work or who would like to advance in their careers.
