What to do next?

To avoid your electronic residence title being misused when stolen or lost, you must have the online identification function blocked immediately.

You can do this by telephone using the locking hotline number on 0180-1-33 33 33 (3.9 cents/min on a German landline, a maximum of 42 cents/minute on a mobile network) which can be reached from countries outside Germany. You will be asked to give your name, date of birth and your locking password. This prevents anyone but you from locking your electronic residence title.
