Participation by people with disabilities

The German State supports equal participation in social life by people with physical, psychological or mental disabilities. Persons with a severe disability are also entitled to particular protection in their working and professional life, for example in the event of their contract being terminated.

Applying for a disabled person’s ID card

If you are afflicted with a disability or severe disability you will receive upon application a (severely) disabled person’s ID card from the pensions office. The card will document the degree of your disability, and will enable you to receive concessions, for example on public transport.

Wichtige Mitteilung

There have been several occasions very recently in which people have pretended to be employees of the Federal Office and asked for an interview at which they questioned asylum applicants intensively. This took place in some cases on the pretext that a second hearing was allegedly needed. Important: The Federal Office does not conduct home visits! These individuals do not work for the Federal Office. The Federal Office has therefore filed criminal charges. If something similar happens to you, or if you observe anything of this nature as a carer, please report this to your local police station.
