Since 1 February 2011 the representative of one of the EMN's early national network partners, the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (Hamburg WeltWirtschaftsInstitut, HWWI), is represented by Dr. Max Friedrich Steinhardt. Dr. Steinhardt is Senior Researcher in the area of demography, migration, and integration at the HWWI. HWWI is an independent consulting and research organization which specializes in the analysis of economic and socio-economic trends relevant for policy-makers. To provide consultancy of practical relevance HWWI relies on basic research and methodological expert know-how. HWWI's research is commissioned by companies, associations, ministries, the EU Commission, foundations and institutions promoting research. The organization is also active in teaching economics and training young researchers.
The Network Migration In Europe (Netzwerk Migration in Europa e.V.) has joined as a new EMN partner on 30 March 2011 and is represented by Dr. Dita Vogel. This network is a platform of researchers and practitioners in the field of migration and integration and at the same time an interface for information, education, consulting, research and networking in Europe.
The major activities of the Network Migration in Europe include
- information services on migration, integration, immigration policy and the global demographic development, with a strong focus on Germany, Europe and North America in the form of the newsletter "Migration and Demographics" and its information portal www.migration-info.de.
- dialogue and networking of science, media, cultural institutions, politics and European political education activities. For this purpose the group runs the expert database "Migration – immigration society – intercultural coexistence" and the European Website for Integration.
