The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees is responsible for the promotion of projects aiming to improve the social integration of immigrants (community-orientated projects). In addition to the previous promotion, which largely took place through na-tional subsidies, EU funding instruments are gaining increasing significance in this area.
The European Commission in Brussels is competent for awarding EU subsidies. The European Commission promotes the improvement of refugees’ living conditions and the integration of immigrants into the EU Member States by means of Funds and through large numbers of promotional programmes. Depending on the promotional instrument, the Commission in principle takes on a differing percentage of partial promotion in the framework of the prescribed co-funding.
The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees offers support in the following steps to the interested players/partners when applying for projects with partial subsidies from EU funding tools by advising them in the planning and implementation:

- establishment of content and goals
- examination of potential funding, in particular EU promotional programmes that can be considered
- compliance with co-funding
- search for project partners
Project application
- selection of the correct EU promotion programme
- help with the application procedure (application submission, other application formalities)
Project implementation
