The Commissioner for Equality

The Commissioner for Equality is the tasked with promoting and monitoring the implementation of the Federal Equality Act (Bundesgleichstellungsgesetz) and of the General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz) with regard to protection against discrimination on grounds of gender, and sexual harrassment at the workplace. She collaborates on all personnel-related, organisational and social measures in her department that affect the equality of women and men, the reconciliation of family and work, as well as protection from sexual harassment at the workplace.
