The Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Office offers advice and support for the research carried out by the Research Centre at the Federal Office. The committee was formed in 2005 and has a multi-disciplinary membership, composed of recognised academics.
Members of the Board are appointed for three years, and the appointment may be extended once only. The Scientific Advisory Board meets twice per year.
The responsibilities of the Scientific Advisory Board
- Specialist recommendations on research concepts and research priorities
- Providing support in theoretical and methodological questions related to migration and integration research, as well as in evaluating the results of the work
- Promoting cooperation with researchers and research facilities covering the same and neighbouring areas of knowledge, as well as with practitioners
- Advising on identifying new areas of research and in discussing new methodological developments
