In the third part of the series of reports, the BAMF Research Centre publishes analyses of the data on the so-called "social components" (SoKo) of asylum applicants of legal age. These data are collected as part of the first application for asylum, and provide an overview of the sociodemographic structure of asylum applicants, as well as their educational qualification and former occupational experience. The annual reports will each contain a special chapter which looks at specific topics in greater detail.
Due to the sharp rise in the number of asylum applications in 2023, it was decided in autumn 2023 to restrict the data collection for first-time applications. The aim is to speed up the application process. As a result, SoKo data collection was suspended until further notice as there is no legal obligation to do so. It remains to be seen when data collection will be resumed. This series of reports therefore ends for the time being with the report for January - October 2023 and will be continued as soon as the necessary data is collected again.
