Entitlement to attend a course

Did you come to Germany on or after 1 January 2005?

If so, you, your spouse and your children are legally entitled to a free integration course. The costs are covered by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. You will have received your confirmation of entitlement to attend a course from the Federal Office of Administration in Friedland when you first arrived in Germany.

Did you come to Germany before 1 January 2005?

If you have not yet attended a language course organised by the Federal Agency for Employment (SGB III course), you can attend an integration course free of charge. To do this, please submit an application for confirmation of eligibility to the Federal Office of Administration. Please send your application by post or fax to the address below:

Bundesverwaltungsamt
Außenstelle Friedland
Heimkehrerstraße 16
37133 Friedland

Tel.: +49 5504 801–0
Fax: +49 5504 801–391

Please also read the "Notes about the integration course".

If you have already attended a language course organised by the Federal Agency for Employment and would like to attend an integration course as well, you must submit an application for admission to an integration course to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees. Please send this application to the regional office of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees responsible for you. You will then be admitted to the integration course as a German national. Please also read the information for German nationals.

You can find the regional office responsible for you using the WebGIS information system.

Please note

If you have already found an integration course provider, you can request them to assist you in completing the form. The course provider will also answer your questions.

Applying to a course provider

If you have received your certificate of eligibility (Berechtigungsschein), the next stage is for you to choose an integration course provider. As soon as you have found a course provider, hand in your certificate of eligibility there.

You can look for a course provider in your area using the WebGIS information system. The information system will display the course provider’s address and telephone number. The course provider will help you select a suitable course. You will also be told when the next course is due to begin.

Costs

As an ethnic German resettler, you, your spouse and your children may attend an integration course free of charge, once only. In certain circumstances you may receive an allowance towards travel expenses. To qualify, you must submit an application. Please send it, completed and signed, to the Branch Office responsible for you. You can find your Branch Office using the BAMF-NAvI information system.

Important information

Children, juveniles and young adults who attend school in Germany do not have a legal entitlement to attend an integration course. Please also read the “Notes about the integration course”.
