Since the military seized power in a coup on 1 February, 2021, security forces have been cracking down on people who oppose the regime across Myanmar. A civil war is raging in large parts of the country, accompanied by war crimes both in the border areas and in central Myanmar, which has displaced over three million people and killed thousands by mid-2024. This report describes the course of the conflict and looks at its impact in general and on the individual states and regions.
