2015 Annual Report of the Research Centre ,
The Annual Report of the Migration, Integration and Asylum Research Centre offers a comprehensive overview of the main projects and results achieved in 2015.
The sharp rise in the number of asylum applicants and the challenges faced when it comes to integration persons entitled to protection are also reflected in the Research Centre’s topics in the period under report. In 2015, for instance, the Office’s internal research facility focussed on the topics of refugee protection and humanitarian reception.
For example, the research projects entitled “The integration of persons recognised as being entitled to asylum and recognised refugees” and “Refugee acceptance (resettlement): Study of the integration of the particularly vulnerable” deserve to be mentioned here. The first results are already available from both projects.
A further project of note is the Migration Report, which is drawn up by the Federal Office every year on behalf of the Federal Government, provides a differentiated presentation of the individual groups of immigrants, and can be regarded as a reference work in migration policy.
The Research Centre aims to provide sound data on current immigration, and hence to also contribute to an objective debate in the face of difficult socio-political topics. The Annual Report clearly shows that the Research Centre of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees carries out comprehensive research on all topics which affect the everyday statutory mandate of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (migration, integration, refugee protection, assisted returns, Islam, etc.).
