2017 Annual Report of the Research Centre ,
The Annual Report provides an overview of the major topics the Migration, Integration and Asylum Research Centre has worked on in 2017. It presents both already completed and still on-going research projects and it introduces publications, events, lectures as well as media services.
In 2017, the Research Centre has launched several new projects:
- a research project on return motivations and reintegration processes among returnees who received support within the Federal "Start-up Cash Plus" programme. It is carried out in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
- a new evaluation of the integration course system, which focuses on refugees in particular. The study is coordinated with the operational integration division of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, as well as
- a new survey of the Muslim population throughout Germany ("Muslim Life in Germany"), following two previous studies from 2008 and 2016.
Worth mentioning is, above all, the on-going perennial IAB-BAMF SOEP questionnaire among recent refugees to Germany conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW/SOEP). Furthermore, a combined qualitative and quantitative research project studies the integration processes of refugees in rural areas. Additionally, together with the European Migration Network (EMN), research topics for the year 2018 have been finalized, ranging from topics such as visa policy, integration and return. What is more, there are several contributions within the relatively new publication series of the Research Centre, the "BAMF Brief Analyses", taking into account the increasing demand to get information relatively quickly on issues such as current migration and integration policies, the situation of displaced women in Germany, or the social structure, qualification level and gainful employment of asylum seekers.
The booklet is only available in german.
