The Research Centre's Annual Report 2018 ,
The Annual Report provides an overview of the work foci of the Research Centre on Migration, Integration and Asylum in 2018, including a detailed presentation of both current and completed research projects, as well as of publications, events, lectures and media coverage.
The multi-annual IAB-BAMF-SOEP survey of people who have fled to Germany in recent years, which is already being conducted jointly with the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW/SOEP), should first be highlighted. With the surveys in 2016 and 2017, the central dataset is now available to the academic public, and this can be used to answer questions on the integration of people who have come to Germany seeking protection in recent years.
In addition to forced migration, other aspects of migration and integration have however also taken on major importance once again in the work of the Research Centre. The questions dealt with here ranged from family reunification and the labour market potential of this group of immigrants, the labour market integration of third-country nationals, to possible differences in the level of integration of Germans with a Turkish migration background in comparison to persons with Turkish citizenship.
In addition, there is the research project entitled "Evaluation of the integration courses (EvIk)", which investigates the modus operandi of the integration courses, placing a special focus on the participant group of refugees.
In addition, the research guidance of the "Advice Centre on Radicalisation" made considerable progress in 2018. One of the focal points here was the establishment of a network of researchers among local civil society partners.
Several studies have also been carried out among partners in the European Migration Network (EMN) on visa liberalisation, international students and travel by beneficiaries of protection to their countries of origin. The national studies in the EMN are always also available as Europe-wide comparative reports (synthesis reports).
The report is only available in German.
