Brochure: Welcome to Germany , Date: 2021.02.26, format: Booklet, area: Integration

What do I need to enter Germany? Where can I learn German? How can I find somewhere to live and work? Who will look after my children? Will my school-leaving certificate or training be recognised? What insurance policies are recommended or indeed mandatory? This brochure provides information on these and other questions.

The brochure, drawn up by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees on behalf of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, comprises 130 pages containing large amounts of tips making everyday life easier. It also contains a considerable number of (Internet) addresses on where to find advice and further links.

An illustrated guide introduces the brochure and presents the central topics at a glance. The brochure is supplemented by a range of information which is tailored to the needs of ethnic German resettlers: "Welcome to Germany – Additional information for ethnic German resettlers" is available in German and Russian.

Update for Swiss nationals

If you are a Swiss national, you also enjoy freedom of movement in Germany on the basis of the agreement on freedom of movement between the European Union and Switzerland; you will be issued with a residence permit in card form by the immigration authority on application so that you can prove your right of residence or use the online functions of the electronic residence title. The same fee is charged for it as Germans pay for an identity card.

Editorial remark: This update concerns page 30 of the broschure Welcome to Germany
