Living Conditions and Participation of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany

Ukrainian refugees are progressing in developing their language skills, integrating into the labour market, and improving their schooling and housing situations. These results are presented in Research Report 51 "Living Conditions and Participation of Ukrainian Refugees in Germany", based on analyses of data from the second half of 2023 from the IAB-BAMF-SOEP Survey of Refugees. However, many hurdles remain. To realise the full potential of Ukrainian refugees for the German labour market, the simplification and acceleration of the recognition of foreign qualifications and the expansion of childcare facilities are necessary.

Research Report 51 is a joint publication of the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at DIW Berlin and the Research Centre of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF-FZ).
