BAMF Brief Analysis "Naturalisation and political interest of refugees"

In 2023, significantly more foreign nationals were naturalised than in previous years. Syrian nationals made up the largest group of naturalised citizens. Becoming a German citizen means being granted full voting rights. The BAMF Brief Analysis "Naturalisation and political interest of refugees" by the Research Centre of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees examines the naturalisation process and the political interest of refugees who sought protection in Germany between 2013 and 2019. The Brief Analysis is based on data from the IAB-BAMF-SOEP-Survey of Refugees from 2021 and 2022.
